Merced police have arrested two suspects in connection with an August 2025 shooting that left a 19-year-old dead, the Merced Police Department announced Monday.
On August 18 at 9:26 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at 314 W. 19th Street. Officers found Iran Hedrington with multiple gunshot wounds and he died at the scene.
Detectives identified the suspects as Blood gang members Jalyl Slatton, 22, and Elijah Garcia, 19.
Slatton was arrested at his Merced residence on Sept. 3 after several search warrants were served.
Garcia initially eluded officers, but was arrested in San Jose on Friday with help from the San Jose Police Department.
Both are now in custody.
