Madera County Man Arrested in Fatal Crash Case

A man wanted in connection with a fatal 2024 vehicle collision was arrested Thursday afternoon in Madera County, authorities said.

The Madera County Special Enforcement Team, with help from the Madera Narcotic Enforcement Team and Sheriff’s K9 Odin, served a search warrant on the 17000 block of Island Drive, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies took Brandon Johns, 40, into custody without incident.

Investigators said Johns was wanted in connection with an August 2024 crash on Highway 145 that left one person dead.

He is also a registered sex offender who had recently removed his ankle monitor, authorities said.

Johns was booked into Madera County Jail and is being held without bail.
