The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office identified the eight victims Tuesday morning in the wind-whipped boating accident on Saturday, June 21, on Lake Tahoe.

The victims:

Paula Bozinovich, 71 years old, Redwood City, California;
Terry Pickles, 73, Redwood City;
Joshua Antony Pickles, 37, San Francisco;
Peter Bayes, 72, Lincoln;
Timothy O’Leary, 71, Auburn;
Theresa Giullari, 66, Honeoye, New York;
James Guck, 69, Honeoye;
Stephen Lindsay, 63, Springwater, New York.

The boat, a 27-foot-Chris-Craft, had 10 people on board when it capsized in heavy winds Saturday afternoon near D.L. Bliss State Park on the Lake Tahoe’s southwest edge, U.S. Coast Guard officials said.

Two people made it safely out of the water immediately with the aid of rescuers. Six bodies were recovered on Saturday and a seventh on Sunday evening. The sheriff’s office said divers found the eighth body on Monday afternoon.

Saturday’s surprise squall produced winds exceeding 35 mph and waves more than eight feet high, the National Weather Service in Reno said.
