A Fresno man accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed two young people is facing murder charges, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Jagat Singh, 28, has been charged with two counts of murder and multiple other felonies stemming from a late-night crash on May 2 that killed Maddux Greene, 18, and Jordan Galvez, 19, both of Fresno. A third passenger, a juvenile, was injured.

According to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, Singh was allegedly driving a stolen Range Rover southbound on Clovis Avenue near Shields Avenue just before midnight when he ran a red light and slammed into the victims’ vehicle.

Prosecutors say Singh fled the scene on foot but was quickly caught by Fresno police officers.

An investigation determined Singh was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Singh has a prior DUI conviction from 2023 and was still on probation.

Authorities say he had been explicitly warned by the court that an impaired driving offense causing death could result in murder charges.

Singh faces a total of 11 felony counts, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving a stolen vehicle, and possession of a stolen automobile.

If convicted on all charges, Singh could face up to seven years and eight months plus 30 years to life in state prison, prosecutors said.

Singh remains in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Fresno County Superior Court.
