Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 38-year-old Fresno man in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early on Tuesday.

Johnny Hernandez has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on several felony charges, including robbery, assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, and probation violation, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

At about 6:30 a.m. on April 1, Hernandez allegedly entered Adina Valley Market, located at 9010 S. Elm Ave., just south of Easton.

The suspect reportedly pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded money and cigarettes before fleeing the scene with the stolen items in a gray Toyota Camry.

Detectives and patrol deputies were able to trace the vehicle to a residence near Grant Avenue and Sixth Street in Fresno.

With the help of the Adult Compliance Team, investigators served a search warrant at the home, where they located Hernandez. He matched the description of the robbery suspect, and evidence tying him to the crime was recovered.

Hernandez is currently under Post-Release Community Supervision, as part of AB 109, and is ineligible for bail due to his legal status, authorities said.

In addition to his arrest, two women were also taken into custody at the residence on unrelated charges.

One was wanted for evading police, while the other had an outstanding probation violation warrant.
