A 39-year-old Chowchilla woman was killed early Tuesday after failing to stop at a posted stop sign and colliding with another vehicle in rural Madera County, authorities said.

The crash happened around 4:56 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 25 and Road 9, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Investigators determined the woman was driving a gray 2014 Nissan Altima southbound on Road 9 when she entered the intersection without stopping.
A 58-year-old Chowchilla man driving a gold 1996 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Avenue 25 collided with the Nissan’s left side.

The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, officials said.
Authorities said the driver of the Toyota was wearing his seatbelt and had minor injuries.
