Paul New, 57, of Fresno, received a three-year federal prison sentence on Monday for conspiracy related to pipe bombings in late 2022 and early 2023.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith announced New’s sentence. 

According to court documents, between November 2022 and February 2023, New committed pipe-bombings on unoccupied vehicles and property in Fresno.

The bombings damaged vehicles belonging to two auto-related businesses on Clinton Avenue. On Feb. 19, 2023, a bomb heavily damaged a vehicle used by a home health care business on Fallbrook Avenue.

Co-defendant Scott Eric Anderson was sentenced to three years in prison in October 2024.

This case was the product of an investigation by the Fresno Police Department, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael G. Tierney prosecuted the case.
