The National Weather Service in Hanford says the strong storm system over Fresno will continue through Friday afternoon with showers and chances of thunderstorms.

Dry conditions then are in the forecast through the middle of next week.

The NWS gauge at the Fresno Air Terminal recorded 1.27 inches of rain from 9:53 p.m. Wednesday through 3:53 a.m. Friday.

With Fresno’s seasonal rainfall 55% of normal at midweek, the storm filled Valley reservoirs, as well as those in northern California. Fresno’s rainfall now stands at 73% of normal to date.

Fresno saw flooded streets and downed trees and some Xfinity customers reported outages to their internet and television service on Thursday night.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for the Sierra Nevada foothills and Kern County’s Lake Isabella area through 10 p.m. Friday. A Winter Storm Warning is effect for the Sierra Nevada through 10 p.m. Friday, too.

Sierra Snow Watch

NWS predicts a 67% chance of a minimum of 6 inches in snowfall above 6,000 feet elevation through Friday evening. Meanwhile, the foothills have a 10% to 55% chance of an additional half-inch or more of rain on Friday.

China Peak Ski Resort reported receiving a total of 28 inches of snow on Wednesday and Thursday and is looking for 5 more inches Friday.
