Tyler Sabapathy, 18, a first-year student at Temple University tragically died Tuesday after falling from a light pole during celebrations following the Philadelphia Eagles’ NFC Championship win, NBC News reported.

The fall occurred Sunday night at 15th and Market streets in Center City in Philadelphia after the Eagles defeated the Washington Commanders, securing a spot in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Sabapathy, originally from Toronto, was majoring in exercise and sports science at Temple’s College of Public Health in Philadelphia and was a member of the club gymnastics team.

Temple issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over his passing, with President John Frey and Vice President Jodi Bailey saying, “Our hearts go out to Tyler’s family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and loved him.”
Coach Jesse Kitzen-Abelson described Sabapathy as an exceptional athlete and a beloved individual, urging the community to keep the Sabapathy family in their thoughts.
