It has been a tumultuous week on the global stage, particularly as Israel’s northern border with Lebanon escalates towards a potential ground invasion amid ongoing tensions reports Lindsay Newman of GZERO.

This backdrop sets the stage for the only vice presidential debate of the election season, where questions arise about the future direction of U.S. foreign policy.

In his recent address to the United Nations, President Joe Biden highlighted his 40 years of political experience, emphasizing the withdrawal from Afghanistan and support for Ukraine as significant accomplishments.

However, Biden’s legacy is at stake as he aims to prioritize ending the Gaza conflict before his term concludes. Despite extensive diplomatic efforts, a May 2024 cease-fire proposal remains elusive, with senior officials acknowledging a lack of imminent progress.

The geopolitical landscape is fraught with challenges, including conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, the threat of a nuclear Iran, and escalating U.S.-China tensions.

Younger leaders in Europe and Africa express concerns about U.S. isolationism, fearing a potential return to the America First policies of former President Donald Trump.

As the world awaits the next administration’s strategy, the desire for innovative solutions in foreign policy is palpable, underscoring the urgency of global engagement.
