Vice President Kamala Harris is leading former President Donald Trump by 6 percentage points in a national poll released a week after their first debate, The Hill reported.

The Morning Consult survey published Tuesday shows Harris with 51% support among likely voters, compared to Trump’s 45%. The vice president’s lead surpasses the survey’s margin of error.
Among independents, Harris has 47% support and Trump 41%. Six percent of independents prefer another candidate.

Debate Boosts Harris
The debate also appears to have bolstered Harris’s standing. According to the survey, 61% of likely voters who watched the ABC News debate felt Harris won, while about 33% thought Trump prevailed. The survey indicates that 20% of Republicans also believed Harris won the debate.
Harris holds an edge with 53% of likely voters viewing her favorably, compared to 44% for Trump. Harris leads among younger voters, with 56% of those aged 18-34 supporting her versus 41% for Trump.
Additionally, she has a significant lead among Black voters, with 78% backing her compared to 18% for Trump.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s aggregate of polls shows Harris with a 3-point advantage over Trump, with 49.6% to Trump’s 46.2%.
The Morning Consult survey was conducted from Sept. 13-15 among 11,022 likely voters, with a margin of error of 1 percentage point.
