A traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a sedan claimed the life of Austin Ly, 16, a Clovis East student from Fresno on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office identified Ly on Wednesday.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Officers arrived to find Ly unresponsive, a Fresno Police Department spokesman told GV Wire.

Officers administered CPR until EMS arrived and transported him to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died shortly after.

Preliminary findings from the Collision Reconstruction Unit indicate that Ly was traveling southbound on Fowler Avenue and failed to stop for a red light at Tulare Avenue.

The sedan, traveling eastbound on Tulare Avenue, was in the intersection when the motorcycle struck the driver’s side.

The sedan driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.
