Students found a gun that belonged to a California Department of Justice officer in the stall of a Clovis high school restroom Friday during a football game, The Fresno Bee reported.
The officer’s name has not been released. Spokespeople for Clovis Unified and the state justice department confirmed to The Bee that the firearm belonged to an officer who works for the state DOJ.

Students found the holstered gun inside a restroom stall on top of a toilet paper holder during a football game at Veterans Memorial Stadium, located on the southeast corner of the school district’s Buchanan High School complex, according to The Bee. The students did not touch the gun and alerted staff, though images of the gun caught attention on social media.
“At the California Department of Justice, we hold our special agents to the highest standard and are committed to maintaining the utmost integrity throughout this process,” the state justice department said in a statement on Monday. The department said it is investigating the matter.
