Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting last month that left one person dead and another wounded, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded about 7:25 p.m. July 18 to the 800 block of Crane Street after receiving a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office said.
One victim died at the scene. The second was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Homicide detectives took over the investigation. During the initial response, a 16-year-old juvenile was detained in the surrounding neighborhood and arrested in connection with an unrelated investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators later identified two additional suspects, ages 12 and 13, as being involved in the shooting. The two juveniles were arrested on Wednesday, July 29, and Sunday, Aug. 2, following further investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities said all three juveniles have been charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, and participation in a criminal street gang.
The sheriff’s office did not release the identities of the suspects because they are juveniles. It also did not identify the victims or provide additional details about the circumstances of the shooting.
