A 16-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting last week in Tulare in which two people riding electric scooters allegedly fired multiple rounds at an occupied vehicle, police said.

Officers responded about 1:30 a.m. July 30 to the area of B Street and Cross Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting, according to the Tulare Police Department.

Investigators determined that two suspects riding electric scooters fired multiple rounds at a vehicle that was stopped at the intersection. No one inside the vehicle was struck, police said. The suspects fled the area after the shooting.

The Tulare Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit investigated the case and identified one of the suspects, police said.

On Tuesday, Street Crimes detectives, assisted by the department’s SWAT team, served a search warrant and arrest warrant at a residence in the 300 block of North G Street.

During the operation, detectives arrested a 16-year-old Tulare resident in connection with the shooting. Police said investigators also recovered a handgun, a high-capacity magazin,e and gang-related evidence from the residence.

The juvenile was taken to the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility and booked on charges related to the investigation, police said.
