Two men were arrested earlier this month after the Kern County Sheriff’s Office investigated copper wire thefts served a search warrant at a residence in the Lamont area, authorities said.

Detectives with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crimes Investigations Unit served the search warrant July 9 in the 8300 block of Fuller Avenue as part of an investigation into a copper wire theft.

During the investigation, detectives identified Angel Adan Garcia, 26, as a suspect in multiple copper wire thefts in the Lamont area. While serving the warrant, deputies located Garcia and Darryl Moody, 34, at the residence.

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives recovered stolen copper wire from the property. Investigators also found stolen vehicles being dismantled and stolen vehicle parts.

The sheriff’s office said detectives were familiar with Moody because he had been arrested three times during the previous five months for possession of stolen copper wire.

Garcia was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen copper wire, conspiracy, possession of a stolen vehicle, operating a chop shop, and committing theft with prior convictions.

Moody was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen copper wire, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
