A 37-year-old man was arrested following a three-month investigation into an alleged stolen property fencing operation, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives arrested Joshua Mendoza on Monday after investigators alleged he knowingly purchased material from individuals he knew had stolen it. Authorities said Mendoza then transported the material throughout California and recycled it for profit.
Investigators obtained receipts indicating Mendoza recycled more than $500,000 worth of material over a seven-month period.
Detectives said they have confirmed that about $50,000 of that material was stolen property.
