A San Luis Obispo County man was arrested Friday after a roughly two-hour standoff with law enforcement officers serving a search warrant at his home, authorities said.

Members of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Detail served a search warrant in the 4700 block of Los Osos Valley Road for Benjamin Reynoso, 43, who was wanted on a felony arrest warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said Reynoso was wanted on allegations of felony vandalism, violating a domestic violence restraining order, and obstruction of justice. The sheriff’s office said the charges stemmed from an incident that occurred the previous week.

The sheriff’s office said Reynoso had previously made threats against law enforcement officers and area residents. When deputies arrived Friday, Reynoso refused repeated commands to leave the residence. Authorities said no one else was inside the home.

Members of the Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to contact Reynoso, but he refused to come out and made threats toward sheriff’s personnel, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies used several methods, including chemical agents, in an effort to get Reynoso to leave the residence. After about two hours, Reynoso exited the home and was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.

During a search of the residence, detectives found several homemade incendiary devices, according to the sheriff’s office.

The San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT team assisted in the operation by providing a specialized vehicle used in Reynoso’s apprehension.

Authorities did not immediately release additional details about the incendiary devices or whether Reynoso faces additional charges.
