The city of Fresno has a new city clerk to oversee city records and help manage council meetings.

In a 6-0 vote Thursday afternoon, with Fresno City Councilmember Mike Karbassi abstaining, the council selected interim city clerk Amy Aller to take the permanent position.

Aller told GV Wire in a statement that she was “humbled and honored” to be chosen.

“I am deeply committed to providing exceptional public service, ensuring accurate legislative records, and ensuring open access to local government,” Aller said. “After serving as interim city clerk for the past six months, I am excited to move forward in this permanent position to serve my community with the highest degree of professionalism and excellence.”

Aller Succeeds Stermer, Who Left in November

Aller took the interim position in November, filling in for Todd Stermer who left to become the clerk for Sacramento County.

Stermer had been clerk for four years prior. Aller told GV Wire that her contract is not yet available. As interim city clerk, she made a base salary of $230,000 a year.

Fresno City Council President Nelson Esparza praised Aller’s work.

“Amy has done tremendous work as our interim city clerk, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the permanent role,” Esparza told GV Wire. “We congratulate her on being selected and feel very comfortable that the clerk’s office is in good hands.”
