Fresno Police Arrest Woman on DUI Charge With 3 Children in Vehicle

A woman was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence with three children in her vehicle after officers stopped her for reckless driving, the Fresno Police Department told GV Wire.

Officers were dispatched at about 9:26 p.m. to the area of Friant and Fort Washington roads regarding a reckless driver. They located the vehicle and observed it traveling at a high rate of speed before conducting a traffic stop.

Police determined the driver, Desiree Valencia, 33, was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.15%, according to authorities.

Valencia was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.15%, child endangerment, and unsafe speed. Police said three children were inside the vehicle at the time of the stop.

She was booked into the Fresno County Jail. The vehicle was impounded.
