A traffic stop on Interstate 5 over the weekend resulted in the seizure of 40 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of the driver, authorities said.
A Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation east of Coalinga on Saturday afternoon. During the interaction with the driver, a sheriff’s K-9 named Willow alerted her handler to the odor of narcotics, according to the sheriff’s office.
A search of the vehicle uncovered the 40 pounds of methamphetamine along with thousands of dollars in cash.
The driver was arrested and booked into jail on charges related to narcotics possession and intent to sell narcotics.
The suspect’s name is being withheld at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
