The odds that President Donald Trump could be removed from office under the 25th Amendment climbed this weekend on prediction platform Kalshi as the war with Iran intensified and scrutiny of the president’s recent statements increased, Newsweek reports.
Kalshi’s contract asking whether the 25th Amendment will be used during Trump’s presidency rose from 28.6% to 35.1% over the past month, the second-highest level since his second term began. The market opened at 15% in January 2025.
Traders reacted in part to Trump’s recent social media posts about Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, including an Easter Sunday message containing threats and profanity.
Sen. Chris Murphy urged the Cabinet to consider invoking the amendment, calling Trump’s remarks “completely, utterly unhinged.” The amendment has never been used to remove a sitting president.
