Kern County Authorities Arrest 4 in Bakersfield During Copper Wire Theft Investigation

Four people were arrested Wednesday in Bakersfield during the execution of a search warrant tied to a copper wire theft investigation, authorities said.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crimes Investigation Unit, with Lamont deputies and assistance from KERNCATT, Kern County Probation, and Code Compliance, served the warrant in the 10200 block of South Vineland Road. Deputies recovered about 200 pounds of stolen commercial-grade copper wire, burglary tools, and an active illegal marijuana grow, officials said.

Those arrested were identified as Rodolfo Juarez, Maricela Cruz, Rene Gutierrez Cortez, and Emily Yasnia. Charges included possession of stolen copper wire, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy, and controlled substance violations.

All were booked into Kern County Jail.

Authorities said copper wire thefts have increased in the Lamont, Arvin, and Tejon areas.
