A man was arrested after police said he shot a student in a parking lot at Manchester Center, the Fresno Police Department said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, officers from the Central Policing District responded to a Shot Spotter alert of four rounds fired near Blackstone and Shields avenues.
Additional 9-1-1 calls reported a gunshot victim. Officers found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the left leg.
He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition and later discharged.
Detectives said the victim, a student at UEI College, was confronted by another male student and Miguel Pacheco-Hernandez, 27.
During the confrontation, Pacheco-Hernandez fired at the victim, striking him in the leg. As he fled, he continued shooting, hitting an unoccupied vehicle.
Suspect Arrested in Dinuba
On Tuesday, Pacheco-Hernandez was taken into custody in Dinuba during a U.S. Marshals operation.
He was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an unoccupied vehicle, and multiple weapons violations.
