A Fresno man with prior drug trafficking convictions is facing federal charges for possessing methamphetamine, fentanyl, and ammunition, officials reported.
Manuel Cisneros, 48, is scheduled for arraignment Thursday after a federal grand jury indicted him on counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as being a felon in possession of ammunition, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced.
Court documents show that on Feb. 20 Cisneros had fentanyl, methamphetamine, and several rounds of .40-caliber ammunition. Due to his previous felony drug trafficking convictions in Fresno County, he is prohibited from possessing ammo.
The case stems from an investigation by the Fresno Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin J. Gilio is prosecuting.
If convicted, Cisneros faces a statutory maximum of life in prison, a mandatory minimum of 10 years, and a fine of up to $10 million.
Any sentence would be determined by the court after considering federal sentencing guidelines.
