A Porterville police checkpoint resulted in one arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence and 13 citations for unlicensed or suspended drivers, officials said.

The checkpoint happened Friday on Plano Street south of Chase Avenue between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., police said Tuesday.

Officers contacted 278 vehicles during the operation.

Police said one driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and drug possession.

Thirteen others were cited for driving without a valid license or with a suspended or revoked license.

Funding for the operation came from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
