The Kings River in Tulare County is now closed to boats, jet skis, and other motorized watercraft for the remainder of the season due to unsafe water conditions, sheriff’s officials said Friday.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said water levels and flow are currently too dangerous, with unseen hazards beneath the surface that pose risks to boaters.
Deputies will be patrolling the area to enforce the closure, which will remain in effect until the next boating season.
While motorized vessels are prohibited, the river remains open for activities such as swimming and floating, authorities noted.
Officials urged people to exercise caution and wear personal flotation devices while in the water.
