The Sierra Unified School District has completed a major modernization of Sierra High School’s library, meeting the needs of today’s students.

The improvements will enhance learning environments, bolster student safety, and update facilities, district officials said.

The transformation is just one phase of the district’s modernization plans.

Renovations are funded by the voter-approved Measure U bond.

Donations Supplement Bonds

For the library project, the district also received $100,000 in donated furniture from Smith System, a Texas-based school furniture company, and a major contribution from Mohawk Carpet.

Smith Systems is using the library as a pilot for future furniture designs, district officials said.

Mark Wilson Construction is the modernization contractor and Darden Architects is the designer.

Sierra Unified Celebrates with Ribbon Cutting

A ribbon cutting event was held Thursday to celebrate the project’s completion.

The event featured tours of completed modernization projects.

Photos and renderings of facilities before and after renovations were displayed.

The Measure U Campaign

The  $24.15 million Measure U bonds passed last November with nearly 67% voter approval. Previous attempts to pass a bond measure ended in failure in 2008 and 2012.
