The intersection of Dans Street and Visalia Parkway will become an all-way stop starting Thursday, Aug. 7, just ahead of the first day of school for nearby Cottonwood Creek Elementary.
City officials said the change follows a recent traffic study that recommended stop signs in all directions to improve safety at the busy intersection.
“Due to the proximity of the stop to a school, our Public Works Department was able to schedule the work now before school starts, rather than wait for future Visalia Parkway road improvements,” said Leslie Blair, senior civil engineer for Visalia.
Once installed, the stop signs will take effect immediately. Electronic message boards are already in place to alert drivers to the change.
“We ask that those who travel through the area remember to keep their eyes out for these new stop signs,” Blair said. “Compliance with all traffic controls, including stop signs and speed limits, is essential for the safety of all our residents.”
