A 70-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday morning during an argument at a northwest Fresno home, police said.

Officers responded at 10:12 a.m. to a residence near North Cleo and West Roberts avenues for a report of a gunshot victim.

They found Carl Johnson in the backyard suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Johnson was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries at 10:58 a.m., according to the Fresno Police Department.

Detectives said Johnson had been invited to the home by the residents, who were preparing for a yard sale.

During the visit, he got into an argument with Stewart Coleman, 46, one of the residents. As Johnson attempted to leave, Coleman allegedly shot him once in the upper body.

Officers arrested Coleman at the scene and recovered the firearm believed to be used in the shooting.
