A 45-year-old Fresno man was found dead early Wednesday after an apparent hit-and-run crash on Jensen Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP officers responded around 6:30 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian down near the south shoulder of Jensen Avenue, east of Del Rey Avenue.
When officers and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they found the man dead at the scene. Investigators believe he was struck by a vehicle that fled the area.
Based on evidence recovered at the scene, authorities said the suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark gray metallic Toyota Avalon with damage to the front right side.
Authorities said that tips from the public, shared through local news and social media, led investigators to identify a possible suspect vehicle and location.
CHP officials said the involved vehicle has been found.
The identity of the suspected driver has not yet been released, pending further investigation and forensic analysis, authorities said.
