A 20-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after leading officers on a pursuit into Tulare County, authorities said.

Just after 1 a.m., Visalia police attempted to stop a gray Kia for suspected DUI and expired registration near Court Street and Murray Avenue. The driver, identified as Aldo Garcia, failed to stop, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle into the county.

The California Highway Patrol was called in to assist. A Visalia officer deployed spike strips near Road 132 and Avenue 368, disabling the vehicle.

CHP then used a PIT maneuver to bring the car to a stop.

A PIT maneuver is a tactic used to stop a fleeing vehicle by striking its rear to make it spin out and stop.

Garcia was taken into custody and found to have an outstanding warrant for burglary and a no-bail warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.

He now faces additional charges including DUI, drug possession, felony evading, and reckless driving, police said.
