A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that targeted two teenagers returning from church in late May, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
Jose Antonio Hernandez of Farmersville was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon by detectives with the Sheriff’s Tulare Area Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Authorities say Hernandez, a documented member of the Norteno criminal street gang, fired multiple rounds at a vehicle carrying a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl on May 25.
The shooting happened on the 400 block of East Court Street in Linnell Camp, just east of Visalia.
The vehicle was struck several times, including one round that hit the girl’s headrest, investigators said. Both teens were unharmed and are not believed to be gang affiliated.
Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility on charges of attempted murder with a gang enhancement.
