For fans of frights, the end of July 4 means preparing for Halloween. And for those craving a good scare, a new immersive Halloween haunt at the Island Waterpark promises “Hollywood-level special effects,” sure to curdle the blood.

Beginning Oct. 3 and running through Nov. 1, Fresno Fright Nights will debut on six acres. Attendees will have the chance to tour several different attractions designed by renowned haunt designer Allen Hopps.

“This attraction promises to deliver intense scares, immersive storytelling, and Hollywood-level special effects, aiming to become a premier Halloween destination in California,” the news release states.

Abandoned Chemical Plants, a Blood River, and the Fresno Night Crawler

Storytelling begins at Fresno Advanced Chemicals, where a quarter-mile tour through an abandoned plant begs people to see everything that went wrong there. At the Ghoul Town Trails, a cemetery features people’s darkest fears.

Visitors get to see the home of the Valley’s very own cryptid — the Fresno Night Crawler — at Night Crawlers Pizza. The adventure concludes with a trip through the Blood River Bayou Swamp.

Designer Hopps owns Stilt Beast Studios and Dark Hour Haunts. He served as past president of the Haunted Attraction Association where he earned a spot on its hall of fame.

For those needing a respite from the scares, the Midway at Fresno Fright Nights will offer food trucks, photo opportunities, adult beverages, and a concert stage with emcees, stilt walkers, and night sliders.
