Authorities are investigating a stabbing that left a man seriously injured early Friday in downtown Visalia, the Visalia Police Department said in a statement.

Officers responded around 5:41 a.m. near Church Street after receiving a report of an assault victim.

When they arrived, downtown security personnel told officers they had found a man with multiple stab wounds.

The victim was taken to Kaweah Health for treatment.

His condition was not immediately available.
