Disneyphiles are known to head to the theme parks for the food. On Friday, the Disney food heads to Fresno.

Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company is hosting “Tiogaland,” featuring food vendors grilling up Disney favorites. The event takes place 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 745 Fulton St. Admission is free.

“It’s our version of a magical theme park experience with a Tioga flair,” said Michael Cruz, the brewery’s president. “The whole intent of Tiogaland is to create an experience like you would get at a theme park but it be something you can attend for free and closer to home.”

The event features local food trucks and restaurants’ take on Disneyland favorites. Cruz said there will be Disney-themed beers.

The family-friendly event includes music. Disney dress up is encouraged.

What’s on the Menu?

Mega Texas Barbecue is offering a giant turkey leg, found at the Poultry Palace and Edelweiss Snacks at Disneyland.

“I love the Disneyland turkey leg, but one of the things that, to me, they need to be a little more tender. So we took ours a little bit further so they pretty much fall right off the bone,” said Anthony Vallejo of Mega Texas Barbecue.

Vallejo brines the one-and-a-half-pound turkey leg overnight, and seasons it for six hours with hickory smoke flavor.

“Super tender, super flavorful,” Vallejo said.

Vallejo also has a twist on the garlic cheesy pretzel bread found at Maurice’s Treats. He added brisket burnt ends.

Currently, the items are not on his regular menu.

“Usually when we do an event, we try it out at the event. And if it’s a hit, we’ll bring it to the restaurant,” Vallejo said.

Nu-Nu’s Kitchen is offering meat skewers — prime beef, chicken, and pork belly — found at The Bengal Barbecue.

Lee Moua — Nu-Nu’s husband — said he’s never had the skewers, but found a way to replicate.

“I’ve heard good things (about the skewers) and so far, from what everybody’s telling me, mine is pretty good too,” Moua said.

“I hand-picked every piece of pork belly. I use only premium hand deboned chicken and only prime tri-tip for my beef skewers. I hand cut every piece, I hand marinate, hand skewer everything,” Moua said.

A hack from Disney foodies is combining the cheesy garlic pretzel bread with skewers.

Other items expected are churros, beignets, and the Enchanted Tiki Room-inspired Dole Pineapple Whip — both regular and beer varieties.

“We’re labeling it the happiest place in Fresno,” Cruz said.
