Authorities on Monday recovered the body of a missing woman from a canal near Sanger, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

A worker discovered what appeared to be a body around 8 a.m. in the water near Newmark and American avenues, officials said.

First responders arrived 15 minutes later and located the body.

Deputies from the sheriff’s dive team recovered Linda Gaona, 53, of Sanger from the canal.
