A 17-year-old boy and an adult woman have been arrested in connection with a May 5 shooting that left three female victims injured during a fight in southwest Fresno, police said.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 calls around the time of the shooting. When they arrived, they found three female victims, each suffering from a single gunshot wound.

According to witnesses, an all-female fight had broken out when the teenage boy approached the scene. Vanessa Noriega, whose age was not released, began yelling at him to shoot the girls, police said.

The boy then opened fire, striking all three victims, and fled before officers arrived.

Noriega was arrested and booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of three counts of assault with a firearm and criminal conspiracy.

Detectives later identified the alleged shooter as a juvenile already on felony probation for auto theft. Officers with the Adult Compliance Team located and arrested him on Friday, May 9.

He was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on three counts of assault with a firearm.

Police have not released the name of the male suspect due to his age.
