Thousands gathered in downtown Fresno Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr., marking another success for the city’s annual march.

The march started at Saint John’s Cathedral and made its way past Fresno City Hall before concluding at the Fresno Veterans Memorial. Signs promoting peace, unity, and other positive messages filled the crowd.

The route the march took place on Jan. 20, 2025.

Singers from Impact Nation, part of Impact Church, described Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. march in downtown Fresno as the largest turnout they’ve ever seen.

The singers told GV Wire that it’s a blessing to have so many people here celebrating MLK Jr.’s birthday.

Local leaders, including City Councilmember Nick Richardson, Mayor Jerry Dyer, and Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni, joined the march, walking alongside community members.

Wendy McCulley, Chief Engagement and External Partnerships Officer for Fresno Unified School District, highlighted the ongoing relevance of King’s legacy.

McCulley said that the problems that MLK Jr. saw back then are still present today. She said, “We are still in this fight and in this struggle.”
