A two-vehicle crash on Highway 41 near Road 209 claimed the life of a Coarsegold resident Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. when a 55-year-old Coarsegold resident driving a blue 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt attempted a left turn from northbound Highway 41 onto Road 209.
The vehicle turned directly into the path of a southbound white 2000 Honda Civic driven by a 63-year-old Fresno resident, officers said.

The driver of the Honda swerved to avoid the Chevrolet but was unable to prevent a collision.
The two vehicles halted west of Highway 41, blocking the southbound transition to Road 209.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, the CHP said.
The driver of the Honda, who was wearing a seatbelt, had moderate injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
CHP does not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash.
