Ryan Mathew Wayne Trevino, 35, is alleged to have been under the influence when the Chevrolet Silverado pick-up he was driving careened off a shoulder, crossed the center line on Millerton Road near Marina Drive, and collided with a Toyota Tundra pick-up driven by John Tarter, 78, of Fresno.

Tarter died before he could be airlifted to the hospital.

Testing Finds Alcohol, Cannabis in Trevino’s System: DA

Toxicology testing revealed that Trevino was driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the crash, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday in a news release.

The DA’s Office also said that Trevino was convicted of DUI in 2007 and 2019, and was arrested in October 2023 in a DUI case yet to be prosecuted.

If convicted of the charges from Saturday’s collision, Trevino would face a sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
