Fresno remains a radio hub for three Major League Baseball teams.
The season starts tomorrow for MLB, and hundreds of games will be heard locally.
The Giants remain on ESPN Radio 1430 (KFIG-AM). The A’s can be heard on ESPN Radio 790 (KFPT-AM). The Dodgers will be on Fox Sports AM 1340 (KCBL-AM).
Hall of Famer Jon Miller returns for his 27th year as the Giants’ lead radio announcer, joined by Dave Flemming, Duane Kuiper, and Mike Krukow.
Ken Korach returns for his 28th year in the A’s booth, joined by Vince Cotroneo, and rookie Johnny Doskow.
Charlie Steiner, Rick Monday, and Tim Neverett handle Dodgers radio duties.
Local ESPN Radio’s program director, Jose Gonzalez, said he hopes to air ESPN Radio’s national feed of Sunday Night Baseball games. The station plans to air local high school baseball games, too.
With that many teams, it is inevitable that not all games will air, and teams may shuffle signals. The local ESPN stations also air the Lakers, 49ers, and Raiders.
And, most Fresno State baseball games air on Fox Sports 1340 and PowerTalk 96.7 (KALZ-FM).
New Broadcaster for Fresno Grizzlies
Stephen Rice, the Fresno Grizzlies media relations director, will add play-by-play to his duties this season. The season starts April 6, with an April 11 home opener.

Rice takes over for Doug Greenwald, who was let go in a cost-cutting move. Greenwald had been the voice for the Grizzlies the last 20 years.
A Colorado native, Rice is the son of former professional pitching coach Pat Rice — who once tutored Fresno Grizzlies pitchers. The younger Rice was a fill-in announcer in recent seasons.
Select Grizzlies games will be heard on ESPN Radio (1430, 790, or both). Neither the team nor the station has announced a schedule. All games will be heard online, accessible through the team’s website.
Greenwald will broadcast games this season for the Winnipeg Goldeyes, of the MLB Partner League American Association. As Bruce Jenkins with the San Francisco Chronicle wrote, Greenwald applied for the vacant Sacramento River Cats broadcaster job.
The River Cats, the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate, chose Zack Bayrouty — formerly with the Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate). The Oakland A’s hired Doskow, the former River Cats announcer, as part of their broadcast team. Doskow did play-by-play for Grizzlies games from 1998 to 2000.
(Disclosure: I work as a Grizzlies official scorekeeper, paid by the team.)
