The mayor of St. Petersburg said in a statement on Saturday that another Russian general was killed while fighting in Ukraine.

Maj. Gen. Vladimir Frolov, deputy commander of Russia’s 8th Army, was killed in combat last week.

“Today we say goodbye to a real hero,”  said Alexander Beglov, the mayor of Russia’s second-largest city.

At least seven other Russian generals have died since the war began on Feb. 24.
