A 44-year-old Fresno Police Department officer has been arrested on a felony charge of possession of child pornography, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Members of the Central Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force followed up on a cyber tip related to possession of child pornography and then arrested Officer Jeffrey Logue at Fresno police headquarters.
Investigators then searched Logue’s Fresno home to collect electronic devices that might contain illegal materials. The sheriff’s office said there is no evidence at this time to indicate Logue ever physically abused a child.
Logue was booked into the Fresno County Jail on the felony charge, and bail was set at $20,000.
He had been assigned to the police department’s Homeless Task Force at the time of his arrest, the sheriff’s office reported.
Chief Hall ‘Personally’ Fired Logue
The Fresno Police Department reported later Wednesday that Logue was “personally” fired by Police Chief Andy Hall after his arrest and before he was transported to the jail and booked. Logue had worked for the department for 17 years.
In a news release, Hall said he was “shocked and outraged by the actions of Jeffrey Logue.” He thanked the task force investigators “for their dedication and the important work they do protecting our children.”
The sheriff’s office said the police department worked with sheriff’s investigators in the probe.
