A fast-moving wildfire near Havilah in Kern County was stopped within hours of ignition as multiple agencies mounted a coordinated response, officials said Thursday evening.

The Kern County Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management are managing the blaze under a unified command, with assistance from the U.S. Forest Service’s Sequoia National Forest.

Firefighters halted the forward progress of the fire about two hours after the initial dispatch, limiting its spread to 31.8 acres. As of the latest update, the fire is 20% contained.

No injuries have been reported. The department did not provide the exact location of the fire.

Crews are expected to remain at the scene overnight to strengthen containment lines.

Authorities said roads in the area remain open but urged motorists to slow down and use caution as firefighters continue working along roadways.
