The helicopter in the crash that killed Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others was not equipped with a “terrain awareness” system, according to investigators.
“We know that this was a high-energy impact crash,” said Jennifer Homendy of the National Transportation Safety Board.
Homendy said the aircraft was falling more than 2,000 feet per minute at the time of impact Sunday into a rugged hillside near Los Angeles.
The NTSB released video footage of the crash site and the charred wreckage of the helicopter Tuesday.
You can view it by clicking on the video above.
The video of the site and the wreckage begins at the 1-minute mark.
