Porterfield Funeral Is Set for Monday in Clovis

The funeral service for Kelly Porterfield, who left his imprint on Central Unified and Madera Unified school districts, is scheduled for Monday, July 29.
The public funeral is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Peachwood Ward, 220 N. Peach Ave., in Clovis.
Mr. Porterfield, 51, was killed July 16 while riding a motorcycle hit by a mini-van on Highway 168 near Shaver Lake.
Visitation for Mr. Porterfield is scheduled for Sunday, July 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Farewell Funeral Services, 660 W. Locust Ave.

Career with Central and Madera School Districts

Mr. Porterfield worked nearly seven years for Central Unified, where he was the assistant superintendent and chief business officer at the time of his death. He oversaw the construction of Tilley Elementary School and supervised numerous school improvement projects, as well as the preparations for the district’s new high school.
Before that, Mr. Porterfield was associate superintendent and chief business officer for Madera Unified, where he oversaw the building of six schools, including Madera South High School.

Graduate of University of Redlands

Mr. Porterfield received his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Redlands and his chief business officer certificate from the University of Southern California.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa, four children, and three grandchildren.
