Police in Sanger have recovered an AK-47 style rifle in a search following the surrender of a suspect who fled the scene of a weekend shooting incident.
Isaiah Gaucin, 19, turned himself in to the Sanger Police Department on Tuesday. He is suspected of firing at a Sanger home on the afternoon of Nov. 21. Police say the house was struck by gunfire, but no one was injured.
High Speed Chase
After Gaucin was identified as the suspected shooter, police located his vehicle and began surveillance. According to a department news release, Gaucin left his apartment and drove away, speeding away from patrol officers who attempted to stop him, Police broke off a high-speed chase as Gaucin fled through the streets of Sanger and then out of the city.
Police searched the apartment where Gaucin was staying, seizing a revolver, AR 15 magazine and other items. Following his surrender, police obtained a second search warrant at another Fresno County location where the AK-47 variant weapon was recovered, the release said.
Gaucin was booked into the Fresno County jail on weapons charges, felony evading arrest and participating in a criminal street gang.
