There will be a minimum of two new trustees joining the Fresno Unified School District board after the November election.
And, with two candidates facing incumbent Valerie Davis in Area 3 (Sunnyside High School) and Veva Islas challenging incumbent Christopher De La Cerda in Area 4 (McLane High School), there is the potential for a majority turnover of the seven-seat board.
You can see and hear what the candidates say about their qualifications, why they are running and what they would do to improve educational excellence in Fresno Unified in forums live-streamed on GV Wire tonight.
In addition, the forums will be broadcast live on Fresno-Clovis CMAC’s Comast and ATT&T channels.

Tuesday’s Forum Schedule

GV Wire Operations Manager Randy Reed will moderate the 6 p.m. forum Tuesday between De La Cerda and Islas in CMAC’s downtown Fresno studio.
The 7 p.m. Tuesday forum will involve Area 7 (Bullard High School), where four candidates are squaring off to replace Brooke Ashjian, who is not seeking re-election after a single term.
GV Wire News Director Bill McEwen will moderate the panel composed of marketing director Nasreen Michelle Johnson, retired safety director Amanda Karabian, educator Terri Edwards, and retired Marine Corps officer Terry Slatic.
On Monday night, Reed moderated the Area 1 (Edison High) forum with candidates Robert Fuentes, a civil rights attorney, and educator/businesswomen Keshia Thomas. They are vying to succeed Lindsay Cal Johnson, who decided not to run again after representing the Edison community for 12 years.
You can read a GV Wire story about Thomas and Fuentes at this link.
Also on Monday night, McEwen moderated the Area 3 forum with Davis and challengers Mark T. Ratchford, a small business owner, and teacher Karl C. Diaz.
