â– Fox26 KMPH hires Gabe Camarillo as new sports reporter/anchor.

â– 24/47’s Esteban Reynoso leaves for CBS Sacramento.

â– Find a TV or radio job.

Now sportscasting on Fox26 KMPH, rookie Gabe Camarillo. Camarillo.

News director Jim Jakobs announced the hiring of Camarillo as sports reporter/anchor. He starts March 8. While this will be Camarillo’s first full-time on air job, he is a familiar face in local press boxes.

An Edison High School and  2022 Fresno State graduate, Camarillo hosts “Home Field Advantage” on 1430 AM ESPN Radio, and writes about Fresno State sports for BarkBoard.

“I’m very eager to learn, but I’m also thankful for the opportunities that I’ve had before this offer, because I feel like it’s prepared me for this TV adventure,” Camarillo said. He will take himself off radio and print for now to get acclimated to TV.

The 22-year-old’s resume includes the Clovis Roundup newspaper, and he interned at ABC 30 last year, occasionally appearing on air.

“I got to give a lot of credit to Stephen Hicks and Alec Nolan because they taught me a lot when it comes to television, and I look forward to joining them in the television industry here in Fresno,” Camarillo said.

Camarillo joins veteran sportscaster Ralph Wood.

“He’s a very energetic, go-getter that has established himself as a premier source for sporting news in the Central Valley,” Jakobs said. “Ralph and I were super-impressed with him.”

Camarillo replaces Vanessa Romo, who exited the station but may have another media job pending.

Romo made an emotional farewell last week.

Reynoso Heads to Sacramento

Esteban Reynoso is the latest news talent on the Highway 99 portal. The talented young reporter/anchor left KSEE 24/CBS 47 for KOVR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Sacramento.

Reynoso spent two years in Fresno, joining the Nexstar duopoly in February 2022. He finished his time as weekend anchor. Ben Morris announced he is taking over the weekend duties.

This is Reynoso’s third full-time TV job, previously working in Chico. Longtime KSEE 24/CBS 47 sports anchor Andrew Marden left for Sacramento TV last month.

TV/Radio Jobs Available

The departures of Reynoso and Marden mean KSEE 24/CBS 47 are hiring. They are looking for a news anchor ($80,000 to $115,000); sports director (pay $65,000 to $85,000 a year); anchor/reporter (pay $55,000 to $75,000 annually); reporter ($45,000 to $55,000); and sports reporter ($43,000-$53,000).

Full job listings can be found here.

KMJ News Talk 580/105.9 lists an “on-air personality and producer” position for $35,000 to $40,000 a year. The listing is here.
